Built new as Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe (ATSF) coach #987; Rebuilt to ATSF baggage #1861, 1952; Rebuilt to ATSF Signal Foreman’s Car #198982, October 1965; Rebuilt to ATSF MOW Bunk Car #203743X, January 1974; Mr. Howard P. Wise and Mr. Brian T. Wise, private owners, November 1986; On loan to PLA from the Wise's, 1986; Purchased 1999 by Dennis Mann. Moved to Niles Canyon in big move of Jan 8, 2005. Undergoing rebuilding to dormitory/lounge for PLA crews, Brightside, CA
This car is a classic example of how the railroads reconfigured passenger cars to meet their current needs, just as the Niles Canyon Railway is following their precedent and reconfiguring this car to meet our current needs.
